AI Engineer
Summary: The AI Engineer role involves developing AI products and tools for a Government client, focusing on user needs and feedback to enhance solutions. The position requires expertise across the software and AI stack, supporting end-to-end delivery from prototyping to deployment. The engineer will work on multiple projects, ensuring solutions are effective and aligned with operational requirements. The role is hybrid, allowing for both remote and on-site work in London.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop AI products, tools, workflows, and technical components for Government use.
- Contribute across the software and AI stack, including Front End, Back End, databases, APIs, and data pipelines.
- Support end-to-end delivery from problem understanding to testing and deployment.
- Apply user feedback to improve products and ensure usability and accessibility.
- Identify and raise risks related to quality, usability, data, security, and accessibility.
- Work on two to three immediate projects.
Key Skills:
- Experience in building, testing, and deploying software and data products.
- Knowledge of the software or AI stack, including Front End, Back End, and cloud deployment.
- Experience with LLM workflows, predictive models, and user-facing applications.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Wagtail, and Typescript.
- Product thinking and UX design skills.
- Experience in natural language prompt engineering.
- Strong collaboration skills in multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to adapt in complex organizational contexts.

Role Overview:
An AI Engineer is required for our Government client to develop AI products, tools, workflows and technical components for use across Government for their government digital and data/Cyber profession and to work with users to understand needs, gather feedback and improve solutions.
You will contribute across the software and AI stack, including Front End, Back End, databases, APIs, data pipelines, model integration, LLM workflows and deployment support.
Support end-to-end delivery, from understanding the problem and building prototypes through to testing, documentation, deployment and iteration.
Apply user feedback to improve products and ensure solutions are useful, accessible and aligned to operational needs.
Identify and raise quality, usability, data, security, accessibility or operational risks early.
As the AI Engineer you will possess knowledge of integrating and using applied AI systems with a demonstrated ability to build them effectively
Possess substantial experience of software engineering practices and be able to take it from concept to implementation and go through the whole life cycle.
You will contribute on two to three immediate pieces of work/projects.
Essential Skills & Experience required:
As the AI Engineer you will possess the following:
Experience of building, testing and deploying software, data products or technical components in a real-world environment.
Experience working across parts of the software or AI stack, such as Front End, Back End, databases, APIs, data pipelines, model integration or cloud deployment.
Experience supporting the development of solutions such as LLM workflows, predictive models, automation tools, scheduling tools, data pipelines or user-facing applications.
Experience across the stack (eg Python, Wagtail, Typescript etc)
Experience of Product thinking and UX design skills
Experience in natural language prompt engineering to build internal and shareable agentic tools.
Ability to work and adapt in complex or ambiguous organisational contexts with strong collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
End-to-end delivery, understanding the problem and building prototypes through to testing, documentation, deployment and iteration
Desirable would be any of the following:
Experience with LLM observability and evaluation tools like Langfuse
Cloud and infrastructure experience - (Terraform, AWS, Github etc)
Entrepreneurial or startup experience
