Summary: The role of Power BI Developer involves supporting the design and delivery of analytical and reporting solutions for a public sector client. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports aligned to business needs
  • Translate user stories and acceptance criteria into effective reporting solutions
  • Build and optimise semantic data models (including star schemas)
  • Collaborate closely with Business Analysts and Data Engineers
  • Improve performance through query optimisation and model design
  • Manage and deploy content via Power BI Service (workspaces, pipelines, access controls)
  • Apply data governance, documentation, and version control standards
  • Support testing, validation, and defect resolution
  • Contribute to user adoption through demos, guidance, and support materials
  • Ensure solutions are accessible, secure, and aligned with organisational standards

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience developing Power BI dashboards and reports with a focus on usability and visual clarity
  • Proven ability to work with dimensional data models (eg star schema)
  • Experience optimising report performance and data models
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI Service (workspaces, deployments, security, RLS)
  • Solid understanding of data governance and secure data handling
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail

Power BI Developer (x2) Glasgow (2 days onsite, 3 days remote) 6-month contract (initial) £430 per day (Inside IR35)

Our main public sector client is looking to bring in two experienced Power BI Developers to support the design and delivery of high-quality analytical and reporting solutions.

Working within a multidisciplinary Agile team, you'll play a key role in translating business requirements into insightful, user-friendly dashboards and data models that support informed decision-making across the organisation.
