Corporate Accountant
Summary: The role of Corporate Financial Accountant involves supporting a Local Authority in the implementation and optimisation of the Unit4 ERP system, focusing on financial systems improvement and reporting structures. This senior interim position requires expertise in finance and accountancy, particularly within the context of local government. The successful candidate will lead various financial processes and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to enhance financial reporting and controls. The contract is for 18 months with a hybrid working arrangement to be confirmed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as the Finance SME for the Unit4 ERP optimisation programme.
- Leading finance input across Chart of Accounts design, coding structures, workflows and reporting hierarchies.
- Supporting the move from manual spreadsheet-led reporting to system-driven financial reporting.
- Ensuring strong financial controls, governance and data integrity across the finance system.
- Supporting budget holder self-service, management reporting, forecasting and statutory reporting requirements.
- Working with Finance, IT, HR, Audit, operational stakeholders and external implementation partners.
- Supporting training, documentation and knowledge transfer to the permanent finance team.
Key Skills:
- CCAB qualification - CIPFA / ACA / ACCA / CIMA.
- Strong Local Authority finance experience.
- Demonstrable Unit4 / Agresso experience.
- Experience supporting ERP implementation, optimisation or finance transformation.
- Strong Chart of Accounts design / development experience.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, governance and reporting requirements.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders across Finance, IT and wider corporate services.

Corporate Financial Accountant - ERP Implementation
Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a Local Authority to appoint an Interim Corporate Financial Accountant to support a major Unit4 ERP optimisation and HR/Payroll implementation programme.
This is a senior interim assignment focused on financial systems improvement, Chart of Accounts design, financial controls, reporting structures and finance process modernisation.

The Role
The successful candidate will act as the Finance and Accountancy SME within a wider ERP programme, supporting the optimisation of the Council's existing Unit4 core finance system and future implementation of Unit4 HR/Payroll.

You will ideally have:
