Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop database solutions to store and retrieve company information
  • Install and configure information systems to ensure functionality
  • Analysing, planning, and defining data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, and master data
  • Migrate data from Legacy systems to new solutions
  • Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts
  • Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting and integrating new elements
  • Optimize new and current database systems
  • Define security and backup procedures
  • Collaborating with other teams within the organisation to devise and implement data strategies, build models, and assess shareholder needs and goals
  • Provide operational support for Management Information Systems

Key Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL is essential and experience with data visualization is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Experience in data modelling, metadata management, data synthesis
  • Proven work experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
  • In-depth understanding of database structure principles
  • Experience gathering and analysing system requirements
  • Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques

Detailed Description From Employer:

World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit a Data Engineer/Data Architect on an initial 12 month contract. The role will be a hybrid position of 2-3 days per week onsite.

Rate: £70.00 per hour

Location: Stevenage

Hybrid/Remote working: 2-3 days per week onsite. A compressed 4 day week of Monday to Thursday is an option.

Contract: 37 Hours per week

Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at 'time and a quarter'

Duration: 12 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)

IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)

Data Engineer/Data Architect Job Description:

We are looking for a Data Engineer to work with the customer support department and project teams to work with the development and evolution of database solutions, migrating data from Legacy systems, and designing conceptual and logical data models. Working with a large and long standing data model, the successful applicant will be working to organise and optimize the data, the database systems, define security procedures, and collaborate with the business department to identify future needs and requirements.
