We are seeking an experienced researcher to act as Deputy Director (Methodology) within the Centre for Healthcare Randomised Trials (CHaRT), a UKCRC-registered Clinical Trials Unit, based within the Aberdeen Centre for Evaluation (ACE).CHaRT has an international reputation in the design and conduct of high quality randomised controlled trials that address important questions facing health services (in the UK and overseas). CHaRT provides all the key competencies required to deliver trials in the increasingly challenging scientific, legal and regulatory environment in which RCTs are conducted – and draws on the expertise of multiple disciplines from across ACE and beyond including statisticians, mixed methods researchers, clinicians, programmers, trial managers data coordinators, implementation scientists etc. Whilst CHaRT supports a wide portfolio of trials, it primarily focuses on pragmatic trials of discrete non-drug technologies or complex interventions. The delivery of all these trials is underpinned and informed by methodological research and governed by strong quality assurance principles.Job Description
The postholder will provide senior methodological leadership across CHaRT’s portfolio of clinical trials and related research, shaping the design and development of high-quality, innovative and competitive studies. They will also support the CHaRT Director in providing strategic leadership for the trials unit. Working closely with clinicians, methodologists and external partners, they will play a leading role in securing external research income, growing the Unit’s portfolio, and strengthening CHaRT’s strategic position with both commercial and non-commercial funders.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 8 salary scale, (£59,966 - £67,468 per annum) negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
