Summary: The role of Enterprise Data Architect involves leading the transition from strategy development to delivery within a Local Authority's Digital and Data Strategy. The architect will be responsible for embedding Enterprise Architecture capabilities, conducting capability assessments, and producing detailed target architectures. This position requires a strong focus on governance and implementation of the strategy over a six-month period. The role is based in Bristol and requires on-site presence three days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Refine and present capability assessments and high-level roadmaps for Digital & Data Strategy themes
- Develop detailed multi-year (Years 1-3) architecture-aligned delivery roadmap
- Finalise Business Capability Model
- Align business capabilities to strategy priorities and transformation initiatives
- Enterprise Data Architecture and target platform design
- Data flows, source-to-target mappings, and integration patterns
- Data governance framework and business glossary/catalogue
- Application portfolio catalogue
- Application rationalisation and consolidation strategy
- Integration strategy (API-first), guidelines, and decision frameworks
- Technology uplift plan
- Revised Cyber Security Strategy and uplift roadmap
- Define EA standards and guardrails across architecture domains
- Embed Architecture Review Clinic
- Provide architecture support and assurance to programmes and projects
- Define non-functional requirements for delivery
- Recommendations for further governance enhancements to support future technology investment decisions
- AI tooling guidelines and guardrails
- Integration and architecture decision frameworks
- Embed governance processes and decision-making structures
- Support organisational adoption of EA practices

Key Skills:
- Experience conducting rapid assessments of current technology and data architecture, identifying duplication, gaps, and opportunities to consolidate
- Experience providing tactical guidance for projects and procurement decisions as new governance arrangements are established
- Proven track record in enterprise architecture within complex organisations within Public Sector
- Strong experience in system consolidation, integration design, and technology governance
