Lead Software Engineer - Java/AWS - Contract - 6 months - Inside IR35 - Hybrid

Key Responsibilities

• Setting the technical direction and engineering strategy for the team
• Leading design decisions across Java, Spring Boot, microservices and APIs
• Ensuring architectural alignment with wider platform goals
• Driving engineering excellence, standards and best practices
• Overseeing CI/CD improvements and DevOps maturity using GitLab
• Working closely with architects, product leadership and stakeholders
• Providing leadership, coaching and technical oversight across the SDLC
• Ensuring solutions are scalable, secure and optimised for AWS

Core Skills Required

• Extensive experience with Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, API design
• Strong architectural and design capability
• Proven experience leading engineering teams or technical delivery
• Deep AWS knowledge and cloud-native design patterns
• Strong communicator able to influence technical direction
• Experience working in Agile delivery teams
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments beneficial
