Principal Software Engineer - Java/AWS - Contract - 6 months - Inside IR35

Key Responsibilities

• Acting as the subject matter expert for Java, Spring Boot and microservices
• Providing technical direction, coaching and support to Senior/Junior Engineers
• Designing robust, scalable and secure distributed systems
• Leading API design, integration patterns and best practices
• Improving CI/CD pipelines and engineering standards using GitLab
• Working closely with architecture, product and delivery leads
• Ensuring solutions align with AWS best practices

Core Skills Required

• Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, API architecture
• Strong AWS experience across modern cloud-native services
• Proven ability to mentor and uplift engineering capability
• Excellent understanding of CI/CD, GitLab pipelines and automation
• Experience working in Agile delivery teams
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments beneficial
