Summary: The Microsoft Dynamics 365 Functional Consultant role is a client-facing position focused on delivering high-quality implementations of Dynamics 365 Business Central. The consultant will manage the functional lifecycle, from pre-sales activities to implementation and go-live, while bridging communication between business leaders and technical teams. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead pre-sales discovery sessions and map business requirements to D365 BC capabilities.

About the Role

We are seeking a high-caliber, client-facing Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant to join our team. This role requires a unique blend of deep product expertise, strong domain knowledge in Finance and Supply Chain Management (including Manufacturing), and outstanding communication skills.

You will own the functional lifecycle from initial pre-sales scoping and product demonstrations through to discovery, design, implementation, and go-live. You will act as the critical bridge between customer business leaders and our technical delivery teams.

Main Responsibilities

Pre-Sales & Solution Advisory

Lead pre-sales discovery sessions, understand prospect pain points, and map business requirements to standard D365 BC capabilities.

Architect and deliver high-impact, tailored product demonstrations that highlight the business value of D365 BC to C-suite and project stakeholders.

Identify and pursue opportunities for cross-selling, upselling, and phase-two project expansions.

Functional Implementation & Architecture

Lead end-to-end implementations of D365 BC, with ultimate ownership of the functional solution design.

Conduct comprehensive fit-gap analyses and design robust configuration and data migration strategies.

Author high-quality functional design documents (FDDs) that translate complex business processes into clear, actionable requirements for the development team.

Configure, test, and deploy core Business Central modules, ensuring best-practice alignment.

Coordinate with project managers to ensure functional delivery meets timeline, scope, and budget benchmarks.

Client & Stakeholder Management

Act as the primary functional advisor to client stakeholders, facilitating decision-making around business process engineering vs. customization.

Lead collaborative workshops with client business heads and internal technical teams to resolve complex functional challenges.

Provide high-impact training and support to end-users and client core teams.

Practice Growth & Mentorship

Mentor and upskill junior consultants on D365 BC best practices, implementation methodologies, and professional consulting etiquette.

Proactively stay ahead of the Microsoft release waves, evaluating new features and driving continuous improvement within our internal delivery processes.

Skills and Experience

Technical & Domain Expertise

Core Business Central Mastery: Proven experience as a Lead/Senior Functional Consultant across multiple full-lifecycle D365 BC implementations.

Deep Finance Focus: Strong expertise in core financial modules (General Ledger, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, Cost Accounting, and Financial Reporting).

Solid SCM & Manufacturing Skills: Hands-on experience configuring and implementing Supply Chain (Inventory, Purchasing, Order Processing) and Manufacturing (BOMs, Routings, Production Orders, MRP/MPS).

Tooling: Proficiency in using Azure DevOps for requirements traceability, task tracking, and UAT management. Familiarity with Power BI and core Reporting/BI concepts is highly desirable.

Consulting & Communication Skills

Exceptional Communication: Elite verbal and written English communication skills. You must be highly confident presenting complex functional architectures to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Pre-Sales Acumen: Proven ability to build rapport with prospects, handle objections on the fly, and scope initial project estimates.

Problem Solving: A sharp analytical mindset capable of designing elegant workarounds for functional gaps without over-customizing the base application.

Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or an equivalent professional qualification (e.g., CA, ICWA, or MBA Finance/Operations is a huge plus).

Microsoft Certifications: Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant Associate (MB-800) is highly preferred.
