SAP ABAP Developer (W2 Contract)

Summary: The Senior SAP ABAP Developer – MES Integration role focuses on leading the design and development of SAP MES integrations to ensure efficient data exchange for manufacturing processes. The position requires extensive experience in SAP ABAP development and integration with MES systems, along with strong collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams. The developer will also be responsible for troubleshooting, documentation, and supporting end-to-end manufacturing processes. This role is primarily remote, catering to experienced professionals in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, configuration, testing, and support of SAP MES integrations, ensuring real-time or near real-time data exchange for production orders, material movements, quality data, and shop floor execution.
• Support end-to-end manufacturing processes, including complex assembly, product traceability, configuration management, and compliance with industry regulations.
• Participate in solution design, architecture reviews, unit testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), user training, deployment, and post-go-live support.
• Troubleshoot production issues related to SAP and MES integrations and drive continuous process improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional business and technical teams to deliver scalable and high-quality SAP solutions.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, functional specifications, and development artifacts.

Key Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 15+ years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience in SAP ECC environments.
• Strong experience with full lifecycle SAP implementations and support.
• Expertise in technical analysis, solution design, development, unit testing, transport management, and defect resolution.
• Strong development experience with Function Modules, BAPIs, IDocs, EDI, BADIs, User Exits and Enhancements, ALV Reports, Object-Oriented ABAP (OO-ABAP), Custom Screens, BDC, and Authorization Objects.
• Proven experience integrating SAP with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) such as Apriso, Siemens Opcenter, or similar platforms.
• Strong experience with SAP PI/PO or equivalent middleware, including IDocs, proxies, REST/SOAP web services, and file-based integrations.
• Experience creating and managing technical and functional specifications within Agile or SDLC environments.
• Deep understanding of discrete manufacturing processes, production execution, material traceability, and manufacturing operations.
• Strong knowledge of SAP functional modules including Production Planning (PP), Materials Management (MM), and Quality Management (QM).
• Working knowledge of Warehouse Management (WM/EWM), Sales & Distribution (SD), Plant Maintenance (PM), or Project Systems (PS) is a plus.
• Excellent communication, documentation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
