Job Title: SAP MM IS-Retail Functional Consultant

Location: Remote (U.S.-based) with occasional travel to Connecticut
Duration: 4 Months (Possible Extension)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP MM IS-Retail Functional Consultant with deep expertise in SAP IS-Retail and SAP Materials Management (MM) to support a retail transformation initiative. The ideal candidate will have strong functional consulting experience, the ability to independently lead engagements, and a proven track record of configuring SAP solutions that align with business requirements while prioritizing standard SAP functionality over custom enhancements.

This role requires excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, as you will work closely with business users, project leadership, and customer stakeholders to deliver high-quality SAP Retail solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end SAP MM IS-Retail functional engagements with minimal supervision.
• Gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into SAP MM and IS-Retail solutions.
• Configure SAP MM modules, ensuring alignment with business processes and industry best practices.
• Design, configure, and maintain SAP Retail Master Data, including material master, vendors, purchasing information records, and related retail-specific objects.
• Work extensively with IDOCs for integration with SAP and third-party applications.
• Recommend and implement standard SAP solutions wherever possible, minimizing custom developments.
• Perform functional testing, integration testing, and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely functional support.
• Collaborate with technical teams on enhancements, interfaces, and integration requirements.
• Create functional specifications and support technical development where required.
• Provide knowledge transfer and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Build strong relationships with business stakeholders and effectively communicate solution options and project status.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of SAP functional consulting experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with SAP Materials Management (MM).
• Deep expertise in SAP IS-Retail implementations and support.
• Extensive experience with SAP Retail Master Data.
• Strong SAP MM configuration experience.
• Experience working with IDOCs and SAP integrations.
• Ability to independently lead workshops, solution design, and project delivery.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to engage with business leaders and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Experience working in Agile and Waterfall project environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail industry implementations.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Retail is preferred.
• Knowledge of integration with other SAP modules such as SD, FI, and WM/EWM.
• Experience supporting large-scale SAP transformation programs.
• SAP MM and/or SAP Retail certification is a plus.
