Summary: The Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer (z/OS & z/VM) role involves supporting enterprise IBM Z infrastructure and critical business applications. The candidate will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of z/OS and z/VM environments, ensuring system availability and performance. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain z/OS operating systems and related subsystems.
  • Administer Unix System Services (USS) environments.
  • Perform software installation, maintenance, and upgrades using SMP/E.
  • Manage HCD and IODF hardware configurations.
  • Perform capacity planning and system performance optimization.
  • Install and support third-party ISV software products.
  • Manage DASD, SMS policies, and system catalogs.
  • Support RACF administration and enterprise security initiatives.
  • Install, configure, and maintain z/VM CP and CMS.
  • Administer RACF security for z/VM environments.
  • Configure and manage GCS, RSCS, and VM/VTAM.

  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and performance bottlenecks.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Participate in change management and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with application, network, storage, and security teams.
  • Provide on-call production support when required.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of Mainframe Systems Programming experience.
  • Strong expertise with IBM z/OS and z/VM.
  • Experience with USS, SMP/E, RACF, CP, CMS, GCS, RSCS, and VM/VTAM.
  • Strong knowledge of IBM Z hardware architecture.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer (z/OS & z/VM) to support enterprise IBM Z infrastructure and mission-critical business applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing z/OS and z/VM environments while ensuring system availability, performance, security, and operational excellence.

This role requires strong expertise in IBM mainframe technologies, operating system administration, performance tuning, storage management, virtualization, and enterprise infrastructure support.
