Senior Cloud Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to lead the design, delivery, and optimisation of cloud infrastructure, platforms, and services.

You will play a key role in building secure, scalable, and reliable cloud solutions, supporting engineering teams, improving automation, and ensuring services remain highly available.

This role requires someone who can combine strong technical expertise with leadership skills, helping shape cloud strategy while supporting teams and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure and services.
• Lead cloud engineering projects, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and cost-effective.
• Support the migration and optimisation of services into cloud environments.
• Manage cloud platforms, operating systems, applications, and integrations.
• Improve automation, monitoring, performance, and operational processes.
• Ensure security controls, compliance standards, and best practices are Embedded into solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and support incident resolution.
• Work closely with software engineers, architects, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to other engineers.
• Contribute to Agile ways of working and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Experience & Skills

Cloud Engineering

• Strong experience designing and supporting cloud-based solutions.
• Experience with major cloud platforms such as:
  • AWS
  • Azure
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Cloud migration and infrastructure optimisation experience.

Infrastructure & Automation

• Strong understanding of:
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep)
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Automation Scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
  • Linux and/or Windows server environments
• Experience managing enterprise infrastructure and cloud services.

Security & Operations

• Experience implementing cloud security controls and best practices.
• Knowledge of monitoring, alerting, performance optimisation, and incident management.
• Understanding of networking concepts including connectivity, Firewalls, DNS, and load balancing.

Technical Leadership

• Ability to lead technical discussions and influence stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring engineers and sharing technical knowledge.
• Comfortable working in Agile environments.

Desirable Experience

• AWS/Azure professional certifications.
• Experience working in large enterprise or public sector environments.
• Experience designing cloud architectures.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, containers, or serverless technologies.
• Experience working with security frameworks and compliance requirements.
