Senior Projects Accountant / Business Analyst

We are looking for a Senior Projects Accountant / Business Analyst to join a Global Payments Accounting team in Amsterdam.

In this highly dynamic, individual contributor role, you will represent Accounting at a detailed, operational level - mapping data structures, testing fund flows, and designing end-to-end accounting requirements for new FinTech initiatives. This is a hands-on role, acting as the technical bridge between Finance, Product, and Data Engineering, rather than a people management position.

Reporting to the Controller, you will ensure that newly launched payment products are accurately captured across financial systems from pay-in to payout.

Key Responsibilities

• As a hands-on project owner, you will:
• Own the Accounting Blueprint
• Lead the design, implementation, and UAT testing of financial data flows, ensuring scalable and robust accounting structures
• Bridge Finance & Technology
• Collaborate with Product, Tech, and Data teams to translate complex product logic into accounting, reporting, and control requirements
• Documentation & Process Design
• Create detailed documentation for processes, data schemas, and fund flows to enable smooth operational handovers
• Build Reporting Solutions
• Partner with BI teams to design, test, and implement automated reporting solutions for new products
• Support Product Launches
• Take ownership of initial month-end closing processes for new initiatives until they transition to BAU
• Solve Data & System Challenges
• Act as the SME on transactional data, resolving complex accounting and system-related issues
• Ensure Compliance & Controls
• Work with auditors and external stakeholders to embed strong controls and compliance into new processes

Requirements & Skills

This role requires a strong mix of accounting expertise and technical curiosity, suited for someone who enjoys working with systems and data.

Experience

• Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience
• Proven involvement in finance projects, system implementations, or product launches

Mindset

• Strong individual contributor who enjoys hands-on execution and ownership
• Detail-oriented with a problem-solving approach

Technical & Data Skills

• Comfortable working with large datasets and complex systems
• Ability to translate technical/product flows into accounting entries

Stakeholder Management

• Strong communication skills
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams including Product, Data, and Engineering

Systems Knowledge

• Experience with financial systems (SAP S/4HANA strongly preferred)
• Solid understanding of US GAAP and month-end close processes

Drive & Ownership

• Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable in fast-paced environments

Language

• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
