Summary: This role is for a Senior Quantity Surveyor involved in a significant infrastructure project, focusing on the commercial delivery of civil, earthworks, and structural packages under the NEC contract. The position requires collaboration within a high-performing team to ensure effective cost control and compliance throughout construction phases. The candidate will lead a small group of commercial staff and manage various financial and contractual tasks independently. Key responsibilities include preparing valuations, monitoring costs, and providing contractual advice to management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and agree variation accounts for main contract and sub-contracts.
- Monitor cost against targets and contract progress against accepted programmes and work plans in conjunction with other team disciplines.
- Provide input into change control procedures for EOT, delays and performance adjustment.
- Prepare and agree interim valuations, final valuations, final accounts and sub-contract final accounts.
- Prepare and issue certification and payment of sub-contractors.
- Provide contractual advice to management (ensure compliance with contract and legal administration obligations eg Timely issue of relevant notices).
- Negotiate and progress the resolution of any disputes and identify potential commercial risks and evaluate options for their control and management.
Key Skills:
- Quantity Surveying degree or similar.
- Enrolled or seeking membership of a relevant professional institution (CICES, RICS or similar).
- Previous experience on major civil engineering infrastructure project within the UK.
- Competent in the use of the NEC suite of contracts.
- Successful experience at project Quantity Surveyor level, displaying skill in delivering a positive commercial outcome for the projects with which you have been associated.
