Solution Tester (Data)

Pigment is a change and transformation consultancy. We partner with other consultancies to deliver a "one team approach" for solving complex change across sectors including Defence and National Security, Central and Local, Government, Transport and Finance.

Are you a data-focused tester who enjoys ensuring data is accurate, reliable and ready for business use? We're looking for a Solution Tester to join an Agile delivery team supporting a major Defence programme.

Working as part of a collaborative Scrum team as a Pigment Solution Tester, you'll be responsible for testing data products and services from end to end. From validating data inputs and transformations to supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), you'll play a key role in ensuring high-quality solutions are delivered into live environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a consultant who enjoys working closely with developers, data engineers and business stakeholders, acting as the quality gatekeeper throughout the delivery life cycle.

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing and executing end-to-end testing across data products and pipelines.
  • Validating data inputs, outputs, transformations and business rules to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Developing test plans, test cases, scripts and traceability documentation.
  • Performing data profiling, reconciliation and quality checks across multiple data sources.
  • Logging and managing defects through to resolution with data engineering teams.
  • Planning and facilitating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders.
  • Producing clear test reports and managing formal test sign-off.
  • Working as an Embedded member of an Agile Scrum team, contributing throughout each sprint.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience testing data solutions, including ETL processes, data pipelines and input/output validation.
  • Strong SQL skills, with the ability to interrogate datasets and validate transformation logic.
  • Experience planning and leading UAT with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A solid understanding of data quality principles, including accuracy, completeness, consistency and timeliness.
  • Experience producing test documentation, managing defects and supporting formal sign-off.
  • Previous experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Experience validating BI and reporting solutions using tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Tableau or Palantir Foundry.
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms including Azure, AWS, Databricks or Foundry data pipelines.
  • Experience with data catalogues and metadata management.

If you're passionate about delivering high-quality data solutions and want to be part of a programme that supports critical Defence capability, we'd love to hear from you.

Due to the level of sensitivity of this programme, you must hold active SC security clearance and be a Sole UK National.

Why Pigment?

You'll work across high impact, complex programmes where your work matters. At Pigment, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do; we value people who can challenge and deliver, while working seamlessly across a blended delivery team.
