Summary: The Technical Author role primarily involves developing, maintaining, and assuring high-quality technical documentation for engineering design and safety in the nuclear industry. The position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure complex technical information is accurately documented and compliant. The role is mainly remote with occasional onsite requirements in Clyde, and it necessitates eligibility for Security Clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and assure high-quality technical documentation for Structures, Systems, and Components (SSC).
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, accurate, and compliant documentation for stakeholders.
  • Support the development and management of document templates, guidance documents, and authoring standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, safety, and project teams to gather and validate technical information.
  • Promote a robust safety and security culture.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in technical authoring within an engineering, defence, or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with the nuclear industry or other high hazard industries (not essential).
  • Ability to interpret engineering technical data, drawings, and schematics.
  • Strong written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with document management and version control processes.
  • Knowledge of technical documentation standards and structured authoring principles.

Overview: Develop, maintain and assure high-quality technical documentation that supports engineering design, operation, maintenance and safety of Structures, Systems and Components (SSC). Ensure complex technical information is translated into clear, accurate, and compliant documentation for stakeholders, operators and maintainers. Support the development and management of document templates, guidance documents and authoring standards. Collaborate with engineering, design, safety and project teams to gather, validate and structure technical information Discharge and display a robust safety and security culture.

Experience & Skills: Essential: Experience in technical authoring within an engineering, defence, or industrial environment Experience of working within the nuclear industry or any other high hazard industry, although this is not considered essential. Ability to interpret engineering technical data, drawings and schematics. Strong written communication skills with attention to detail Experience with document management and version control processes Knowledge of technical documentation standards and structured authoring principles
