Summary: The Test Development Engineer role involves developing and enhancing automated and manual test systems for advanced electronic products in High Wycombe. This hands-on position requires collaboration with manufacturing, design, and quality teams to support new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will be responsible for designing test solutions, maintaining automated test programs, and analyzing production test data. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and support functional test solutions (hardware & software) for electronic assemblies and systems
  • Create and maintain automated test programs using industry ATE platforms
  • Write, debug and validate production-ready test software
  • Configure and integrate electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, electronic loads, spectrum analysers and DAQ systems
  • Build, modify and maintain test fixtures and jigs, with a strong focus on automation and efficiency
  • Analyse production test data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, design, quality and external suppliers to resolve test and production issues
  • Influence Design for Test (DfT) and Design for Manufacture (DfM) during new product development
  • Act as a key technical contact supporting subcontract manufacturers during production testing
  • Drive improvements in test coverage, reliability, throughput and yield
  • Ensure test solutions meet safety, quality and regulatory requirements

Key Skills:

  • 5 years’ experience developing test solutions for electronic products
  • Strong hands-on experience with electronic test instrumentation
  • Confident fault-finding down to component level on PCBAs

An advanced electronics technology business in High Wycombe is looking for a Test Development Engineer to take ownership of developing and improving automated and manual test systems used across cutting-edge electronic products and sub-assemblies.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll work closely with manufacturing, design and quality teams, and play a vital part in new product introduction, production support and continuous improvement.
