What does a accounts assistant contractor do?
Accounts Assistant contractors are engaged to support finance teams with transactional and administrative accounting tasks, providing additional capacity during busy periods, covering staff absences, or bridging a gap during recruitment. The work typically includes processing purchase and sales invoices, reconciling supplier statements, managing expense claims, supporting month-end close activities, and maintaining accurate financial records. Accounts Assistant contract roles are common across all sectors and business sizes, from SMEs using cloud accounting platforms through to large organisations running complex ERP systems.
The skills expected at this level are practical and process-oriented. Experience with accounting software is essential, with Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, and SAP being the most frequently cited platforms depending on the employer.
